CEO and Scientific Director of CEVR Welcomes Professor Sun Dong at the University of Waterloo to Enhance Innovation and Technology Collaboration

Professor Ben Thompson, CEO and Scientific Director of the Centre for Eye and Vision Research (CEVR), had the privilege of welcoming Professor Sun Dong, the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, at the University of Waterloo, Canada.

During their exchange, Professor Thompson introduced the School of Optometry and Vision Science, highlighting the latest developments, research initiatives, and cutting-edge facilities.

Professor Sun also visited the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) to explore groundbreaking technologies in the field of quantum computing. CEVR researchers have been collaborating closely with IQC to develop a diagnostic tool that utilizes quantum imaging technology for the early detection of macular degeneration. This innovative tool was recognized with the Gold Medal of Congratulations of the Jury at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, Switzerland.

As one of the key research laboratories within the “InnoHK Research Clusters,” CEVR is committed to advancing translational research and innovative applications in vision science. We strive to cultivate exceptional research talent and generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision.
