Integrated Dry Eye Diagnosis and Precision Therapies

## Aims This project aims to develop integrated diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for dry eye disease, enabling personalized treatment based on individual disease mechanisms. ## Background Dry eye disease is a multifactorial condition with varying underlying causes. Current treatments often use a one-size-fits-all approach, leading to suboptimal outcomes for many patients. ## Work to be Done The project will develop point-of-care diagnostic tests to identify disease subtypes, create targeted therapies for different dry eye mechanisms, and validate integrated diagnostic-therapeutic pathways in clinical settings. ## Benefits Benefits include (1) more effective treatment through mechanism-based therapy, (2) reduced trial-and-error in treatment selection, (3) improved patient outcomes and satisfaction, and (4) better understanding of dry eye disease pathophysiology. ## Impact Precision approaches to dry eye treatment will significantly improve quality of life for the millions affected by this chronic condition.
